I think every memory in my life has had music attached to it. In my house growing up, I don't think my dad was ever more than five feet from a guitar at any time and music was everywhere; consequently, guitars were everywhere, too. When I was younger I sang a lot and picked up the saxophone… not a guitar. The first purchase I made with my paper route was a silver saxophone mouthpiece; I still have it today! Growing up, I loved the sound of early Chicago with the sharp horn section and the soul music coming from Stax records where Booker T., Wilson Pickett, and Sam & Dave were rarely recording without horns. Wouldn’t it have been cool to see Isaac Hayes rocking’ his bari sax?

 

After spending some years singing in the Florentine Opera and performing musical theater, I'm so happy to be focusing on the saxophone again and I hope to expand expectations of what the instrument can do through switching up parts in the band and crossing genres. I feel very fortunate to be able to bring new music into existence with my bandmates and share it with the world.

My name is Bridget and I'm that person on a roadtrip who sings along to every song (even if I don't know the lyrics) ... That's how much I love to sing. 

 

Growing up I listened to Mariah, Whitney, Jewel, Alanis, Sheryl Crow, Janet Jackson ... and of course The Beatles.  And those CD inserts with all the lyrics became my best friend as I devoured every word of every line of every song.

 

And, yes, I also love musicals and was a thespian in high school and college.

 

Then there was about a 15 year gap where I pushed my passion aside to pursue a profession in Journalism so it feels really good to have music in my life again in a creative way.

 

That's why developing our own sound is truly a dream come true and I hope it's clear, when people listen, how much I connect to and care about the songs and the two other musicians who I get to do this with.

Originally from Dublin, Ireland. As someone who has spent a lot of time working in both electronic music and more conventional band configurations, it was really interesting for me to see how a trio could navigate songs without always sounding like, well, something was missing. It’s been a beautiful surprise to learn that sometimes musically, less really is more. We’ve forged our own sound and I’m so proud of the songs we are writing and the ways we perform them.

 

One of our songs opens with, ‘A million stars, aligned for us one day. So we set forth, and let them lead the way. It encapsulates this great journey the three of us find ourselves on.
